1. Information we collect
We may collect:
- your name, work email, organisation, supplier category and enquiry content;
- subscription status, payment references and billing records provided by Stripe, without receiving your full card details;
- emails, feedback, support requests and cancellation instructions;
- basic technical and security information generated when the website is accessed; and
- publicly available venue, business and professional information used to prepare lead reports.
2. Lead information
VenueOpen focuses on business and venue information, including licence records, venue addresses, trading names, business websites, public announcements and publicly listed business contact channels. Where a public business record also identifies an individual, we use it only where reasonably connected to the commercial purpose of the service.
We do not intentionally include private residential contact details, sensitive information or personal information obtained through deception. A person may request correction, context or removal of an individual-identifying record by contacting us.
3. Why we use information
We use information to:
- provide, bill and support the subscription service;
- prepare, verify and improve lead reports;
- respond to enquiries and send service communications;
- send marketing where permitted, with an unsubscribe option;
- prevent misuse and maintain security; and
- meet legal, tax, accounting and dispute-resolution obligations.
4. Service providers and disclosure
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to providers that support website hosting, email, payments, document delivery, data processing and professional advice. Stripe processes customer payments under its own privacy terms. Providers may process information outside Australia, subject to their contractual and security arrangements.
We do not sell customer account information. Lead intelligence is the sale of a research service based primarily on business and public-source information—not the sale of a subscriber’s personal details.
5. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps appropriate to a small digital business to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. No online system is completely secure. We retain information only for as long as reasonably required for the service, record keeping, legal obligations and legitimate dispute management, then delete or de-identify it where practicable.
6. Access, correction and removal
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request correction, unsubscribe from marketing, or raise a concern about a lead record. Email hello@venueopen.com.au with enough detail for us to locate the record. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
7. Cookies and analytics
The initial VenueOpen website does not use advertising cookies. Essential hosting, security and payment services may process technical information needed to operate their services. If material analytics or advertising technology is introduced, this policy will be updated before or when that change occurs.
8. Complaints
Please send a privacy complaint to hello@venueopen.com.au. We will acknowledge and investigate it within a reasonable period. If an Australian privacy regulator has jurisdiction and the issue is not resolved, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as VenueOpen’s service or legal obligations change. The current version and effective date will remain published here.
